Dr. Etemi Joshua Garba

Etemi Joshua Garba (PhD, MEng, BSc) is a Senior Lecturer in the department of Computer Science at the Modibbo Adama University of Technology (formerly known as Federal University of Technology), Yola, Adamawa State, Nigeria.

He is a graduate of BSc Computer Science and has Master Degree in Software Engineering from the St. Petersburg State University of Information Technology, Mechanics & Optics. St. Petersburg, Russia. He has 14 years of experience in teaching, research and community development.

Dr EJ Garba specializes in the:

  1. Design of Algorithms and Computational Models.
  2. Modeling and Simulation of Software Frameworks.
  3. Analytics and Processing of Multimedia Data (Audio, Video, Images and Texts).
  4. Multimedia Data Science (Fuzzy/Neuro-Fuzzy Systems).

He is a consultant in Software Engineering, eCommerce and Multimedia Technologies. He is the CEO and Co-Founder of Ethereal.ng (a tech startup).  He was involved as facilitator in software analysis and training at the Social Media and Mobile App Campaign Workshop in Ghana (funded by Media Response and International Organization for Migration [IOM]).

Consequently, he developed the software specification requirements document for the design, development and deployment of FMM West Africa Migrant App (called MigStories App – available on GooglePlay). The project is being funded by FMM West Africa, EU, ECOWAS, IOM, ICMPD and ILO.

Dr EJ Garba is a member of stakeholders for the development of Nigerian Electronic Commerce Regulation at National Information Technology Development Agency (NITDA), Abuja.

As part of his community development and national service, he was involved in the extra mural teaching at the Nigeria Air Force Centre for Adult Education, Jos, Plateau State. He is the current National President of Federal Government College Wukari Old Students Association; and also a member of the National Executive Committee, Unity Schools Association of Nigeria (USOSA). He is into agriculture (Farming of Oil Palm Trees).

He is happily married.

Women of Valour Initiative for Development and Empowerment (WOVAIDE) is a non-profit, non-political and non-governmental organization with the primary objectives of building capacity through trainings and skills acquisition, advocacy for maternal and child health through sensitization and awareness in order to create enabling legislation.
